From the age of 16 through to 20, my College years.

I started at Salford College of Technology in September 1977
at the age of 16.
My first year was a Foundation Art course,
we studied fashion, graphic design, life, photography
jewelery making, I even had a go at fencing :)
It was a great year, free from the constraints of school dicipline
I had a ball, at the end of the year I chose to study Fashion Design
for the next Three years. Unfortunatley due to my own fault
I failed the first year of Fashion, I mostly spent my time
in the Student Union bar!!!! My head of year must have seen
something in me that I didn't because she recommended
me to another College and gace me a wonderful reference,
without which I wouldn't have been able to get onto year 2
of the dame course at Tameside College of Technology.

My best friend at Salford Tech, Debbie.

Kadria, Debbie and Me were all in Year one Fashion.
Second photo is of Georgina, Debbie and
Georgina's younger brother.

Best friend at Tameside College, Helen.
Helen was also my Bridesmaid and Claire's Godmother :)
I spent the next two years at Tameside College and after
being given another chance to complete what I set out to do,
I got down to it, I left home after a few months and spent
the next 18 months in the dingiest bedsit ever, but it was cheap
and it was mine, I had my independance!!
I completed the course with all passes, some credits and
even a few distinctions :) and at
the grand old age of 20 was ready to face
the big bad world of work :)

Some other friends from Tameside,
Helen, Gaynor, Junior, Debbie and Karen.

Saturday night out at UMIST

This was my bedsit, you really had to see it to believe it!!!
There was different paper on all four walls,
the paintwork was turquoise and the curtains bright orange!!
not even the pictures and posters covered it up, lol,
but I loved the freedom of being on my own and living here.
I returned to Tameside College in 2002 and did a year
on Psychology and Sociology which gave me the credits
to get into Manchester Metropolitan University, where am am doing
my Social Work Degree, I will complete that in 2006 :)
So I suppose it's never too late eh!
