I was at Saint Josephs R.C. from '65 to '68
School seemed a bit scary from what I can remember of my first day,
I remember my first teacher Mrs Williams and she was the only teachers
name that stayed with me, I visually remember the teacher in the
second class, I would have been 5 years old and she had the longest
red nails I had ever seen and used to scratch the boys legs as she
slapped them! we all thought she was a Witch as her hair was Jet black
and her nose was pointed.
Trevor joined me that year and we stayed for another year.
First and Second Whit walks,, the lady in the first picture is the
one we thought was a Witch :)
Third and last
Whit Walks.
Here with
Trev & Dad.
I was at this School from '68 to '72
Me and Trev used to get the School bus every morning together,
he was usually the one who got off the bus a stop early
to go to the Sweet shop -- Kennys Newsagent -- to spend
the extra penny that he saved on the bus fare!!
I took a while to settle into my new school as
I joined mid-term and everyone was so new to me.
I soon made plenty of new friends that moved up to
Secondary school with me at age 11.
I can remember being really excited about starting 'Big' school.
I was at Goyt Bank from '72 to '77 up to the age of 16.
I enjoyed school mostly, hated P.E. and the degrading showers after!!
Soon learnt to forge my Mums signature to get out of P.E. :)
Trev joined me at Goyt Bank a year later and proceded to
haunt me for the next 4 years!!!
Made loads of new mates, chopped and changed gangs as I
moved up to the next year,, I still see one or two in passing but not many
as I now live out of the area that I was brought up in.
Goyt Bank was a huge school, over 300 pupils per year,
mostly I remember enjoying my time there.
First and last secondary school photo,
this was taken in my first year, aged 11.
My last brother Darren was born when I was at
secondary school, I was 13 in these 2 photos,
the first was in my school uniform and
the second was taken at Darrens Christening.
